And a great comment from someone who really gets it: I bet one of the main reasons the Mojave Desert is inhospitable is ‘cause it doesn’t want people like this hanging around ruining the ambience with a bunch of high-concept foolishness. The connection of the landscape with omni-sexuality? Does that involve taking liberties with the flora and fauna?
For the record, I preferred “delicate” over “inhospitable.” Expect no cliches from me about a harsh, sterile environment… as a desert rat, I want to show that the Mojave is indeed home to many plants, animals, and insects, and that even its geology has a slow life of its own. It is in perfect harmony with itself, but so tender and lacelike, like a spider’s web in the sun…
